ISYS Knowledge Warehouse

What is the ISYS Knowledge Warehouse?

Think of the ISYS Knowledge Warehouse as an automatic filing clerk and note taker. This is the only standard feature of ISYS that actively participates in the creation of new data. You can drag snippets of text from your word processor directly into the Warehouse, you can also add details about why the information has been stored. Files can even be dropped into the Warehouse from Explorer, or from the ISYS Query document list.

Starting with the ISYS Knowledge Warehouse?

Start the Knowledge Warehouse, by clicking on Start - Programs - ISYS Search Software 8 - ISYS Knowledge Warehouse.

The first time you start the Knowledge Warehouse you will be asked where you want the Warehouse files to be stored, as seen in the below diagram. The default location is in your 'My Documents' directory. You can change this to another location of your choice by choosing the 'Browse..' button or by simply typing in another directory location. Click on the 'OK' button once you are satisfied with your choice.

The next window will appear, letting you know that you can now use the Knowledge Warehouse by simply dragging files or scraps of text into the Warehouse.

Click on the 'OK' button and you will then see the ISYS Knowledge Warehouse icon on your desktop.

Using the Knowledge Warehouse

When you click on the Knowledge Warehouse icon you will see the following options:

Import

To import a file into the Knowledge Warehouse, select 'Import' and then choose a category for the file to be imported.

A section window will appear and you may choose any file you wish to place into the Knowledge Warehouse. Locate the file that you would like to import and then click on the 'Open' button. The selected file will be copied into the category folder under the Warehouse location.

Once you have selected the file to add, you will be asked for some profile information, for example:

Enter all the relevant information and then click on the 'OK' button. Remember that you can change this to suit your individual needs.

Drag and drop

With the ISYS Knowledge Warehouse you can drag and drop snippets of text, documents from Windows Explorer, or even documents from the ISYS Query document list. A copy of these files will be placed and stored into the Knowledge Warehouse.

To drag a document from Windows Explorer to Knowledge Warehouse, simply highlight the document, drag and drop it over the top of the ISYS Knowledge Warehouse icon.

As you will see in the figure below, it will prompt you with the default settings. Select the option of your choice.

Once you have selected one of the options again you will be asked for some profile information.

Enter all relevant information and click on the 'OK' button.
