Command Line Parameters
Here is the lowdown on some of the command line parameters available
for both ISYS Utilities and ISYS Query.
Command line parameters can be useful in a wide number of ways. They
can be used to force Query users to open a specific database or concept
tree when they load ISYS Query. The options available for Utilities allow
you to update or reindex indexes, even close Windows when the update or
reindex has completed.
Here are some examples:
To run ISYS Utilities and update a database in D:\policies, the command
line might look like this: "C:\Program Files\Isys\idbw.exe"
/u /d=d:\policies
The command line parameters for Utilities are most useful in situations
where you want to perform updates or re-indexes from network scheduling
utilities.
The advantage of this method is that once Utilities has performed whatever
function or functions you have instructed via the command line, Utilities
will shut down. This is ideal for network environments, as it frees up
a user permit that can be utilized by an ISYS Query user.
For more detail about command line parameters consult the ISYS Utilities
help under Technical Details, Command line parameters.
Quick Tip
'Context of Hits' is a useful way to view a "snapshot" of each
document in your result list. To view your result lists in Context View,
click "Options" on the ISYS Query menu, then select "Context
of Hits". You can also hit the context button on the toolbar.
Quick Tip
ISYS:desktop 6 allows you to index PDF (Adobe Acrobat) files. In ISYS
Query you can set ISYS so that you can view the files in WYSIWYG. If you
have Adobe Acrobat installed ISYS will prompt you to install a plug-in
when you first view a PDF document in ISYS Query, or you may install the
plug-in by selecting 'Options' from the menu, and then selecting 'Preferences'
- 'Documents'.
