The market for Enterprise Search technology is not homogeneous. The various suppliers offer a wide range of technologies which address quite diverse business problems. Some technologies truly address the enterprise search problem while others are highly specific to a particular industry or type of application. The search solutions from some suppliers come with heavyweight infrastructure demands while others are almost plug and play.
