Medway Council
Kent's Medway Council is on a mission. As part
of an overall 'e-government' strategy, the Council has undertaken to
have all its services available electronically by 2005.
Part of this objective is the production of a new website, with an
aim to making it better able to cater to a population of increasingly
discerning web users. To manage the growing amount of varied information
on the site, the Council implemented a new Content Management System,
but they were not happy with the search function it provided. They needed
a powerful and reliable search solution - so they chose ISYS.
One of the 'must-haves' for the e-government strategy is the ability
to gather and manage information and distribute it to multiple channels
without changing, moving or reformatting it. ISYS:web.asp was the perfect
fit for Medway's strategy. Designed to integrate with websites that
use Microsoft Internet Information Server, ISYS is able to complement
the Council's existing web environment and provide the search functionality
needed without concerns about interactivity or security.
ISYS:web.asp minimizes maintenance issues and data
double-handling by detecting changes or additions to stored information
at the document level, and automatically updating the website. The control
over the look, feel and function of the site and its search capability
remains totally in the hands of site designers and administrators.
Medway Council's Web Manager Sean Hale said; "We
chose ISYS because it offered quality and flexibility. We also felt
the product offered the scope of our search requirements and, indeed,
further services beyond our requirements. ISYS will allow our users
to find information easily and quickly without any unnecessary frills,
and that's what we and they want."
