ISYS Search Software, Inc. Announces
the New Product Release of ISYS:web.asp
Englewood, CO - March 1, 2002 - ISYS Search Software,
Inc. announces a new product designed for an entirely different market
from the traditional ISYS customer. ISYS:web.asp, ISYS's new COM-based
search module, focuses on the Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS)
to provide a highly flexible and powerful search tool designed to slip
seamlessly into the IIS architecture and integrate with existing infrastructure.
The launch of ISYS:web.asp also coincides with its first major licensing
agreement. Management Recruiters International, Inc. (MRI), the world's
largest executive search and recruitment organization, is implementing
ISYS:web.asp as the underlying search technology for their public website
www.brilliantpeople.com.
The ISYS product range has always boasted ease of use and
out-of-the-box style solutions; but now ISYS combines this tradition of
easy-to-use software with a powerful and pure search tool for fusion with
IIS.
ISYS:web.asp signifies a migration from ISYS application
software to a breed of specific search tool components.
"Search is becoming a mandatory requirement for Internet
based developments and many organizations are operating extremely complex
sites with a range of components interacting together to form a single
application," said Managing Director, Ian Davies. "Within this
type of environment, site developers need a search utility that can operate
in a similar way."
A major benefit of ISYS:web.asp is the enhanced control
provided to the site developer during the integration and searching process.
Utilizing COM, developers can easily manipulate data, adding value to
the search results.
"ISYS now offers a set of tools specifically designed
to manipulate data within the search process," said Davies. For example,
site developers can establish relationships between the data in an SQL
database and an ISYS index; developers can link the ISYS result list with
information not contained in the document or link documents with other
documents. In this way developers can add value to the end user, offering
a more intuitive and constructively linked search result that benefits
from individual corporate understanding to maximize information quality.
In the case of the MRI account, brilliantpeople.com holds
over half a million candidates and jobs and averages 2.5 million hits
per month. ISYS:web.asp was chosen because the website was already running
an IIS infrastructure and making heavy use of ASP to drive it's dynamic
nature. ISYS:web.asp allowed a very fine grained control over every aspect
of the search which made the integration of ISYS search all the more seamless.
Prior to integrating ISYS:web.asp, the database underneath
the brilliantpeople.com website had a very heavy load, with searches sometimes
taking several minutes to execute. The benefit of ISYS:web.asp is twofold;
searches are now much faster and the load is lightened on the database,
allowing it more headroom to grow.
With ISYS:web.asp, MRI encoded several field values from
the records into the document title. As the document title is stored in
the index, it can be accessed very quickly at results time with no SQL
database lookup involved.
At result display time, ISYS:web.asp 'decomposes' the document
titles into their various field values which allows for a much richer
than normal results display. This was done programmatically in ASP by
taking the raw data supplied by the ISYS objects and manipulating it to
form a coherent display. Brilliantpeople.com will be able to show candidate's
surnames, job locations, and dates in the result list. This is information
from the document that is not normally accessible at results time.
"ISYS:web.asp provides an easy method of enriching
an organization's existing architecture with powerful feature-rich search
functionality and unlimited flexibility," said Davies.
ISYS:web.asp becomes a COM-based peer of the architecture,
supplying synergistic performance, manipulating and interacting with all
types of data formats within the environment including proprietary applications.
This enriches the portal functionality, increasing productivity and improving
overall performance. ISYS:web.asp also complies with IIS security, providing
transparent integration.
The new product offers all the advanced search functionality
of the ISYS product range including Boolean, Natural Language, and Command-Based
& Proximity searching; date interpretation, range searching, and tense
conflation.
ISYS:web.asp supports ISYS:rich-html, incorporating original
document formatting transparently converted to HTML, and ISYS:spider,
allowing site developers to add external websites' information to the
organization's portal.
"The ISYS:web.asp flexibility makes it an ideal option
if a site developer wants searching within the organization's portal to
adhere to specific rules or perform in specific ways, or, if there are
proprietary business applications that need to influence search results,"
said Davies.
ISYS:web.asp heralds the beginning of a new product
development for the ISYS range, broadening the user base and widening
opportunities for ISYS search technology.
