Australian software finds new popularity as counter-terrorism tool

SYDNEY - April 17th, 2003 - Search software provider ISYS Search Software, developer of the award-winning ISYS package and stalwart of the Australian software industry, has experienced a surge in demand for its product amongst counter-terrorism agencies. Already commonly used by law enforcement organisations for searching incident reports, offender databases and evidence records, ISYS is finding a new application in the identification and tracking of suspected terrorists. The product's ability to search 30 different languages including Arabic is a feature that has been in high demand since the advent of the 'War on Terror'.

ISYS Search Software says it has recently sold ISYS to a number of intelligence and security agencies in the USA and Europe. They use the product to search recovered data from confiscated computers, exploiting its ability to search files regardless of their format and to view results without the host application. This allows intelligence officers to search for key terms such as the names of suspected terrorists, chemical ingredients used in the manufacture of bombs or references to terrorist activities. ISYS can also be used to search the various repositories of intelligence information that are used in the counter-terrorism effort, including security reports and databases of potential suspects.

The product's simple installation process also adds to its appeal, since most organisations insist on implementing systems internally, for security reasons.

ISYS Search Software will be showcasing ISYS at the upcoming CeBIT show in Sydney's Darling Harbor, running from 6-8th May.
