Success Story

Widely regarded as one of the most prominent barristers in Australia, Julian Burnside QC has seen plenty during his years of providing counsel in a variety of high-profile cases. His success in championing rights groups’ interests, assisting organizations like the Australian Broadcasting Authority and helping the Maritime Union of Australia in the High Court is well documented.

When it comes to technology, Burnside is no luddite. On the contrary, he has used computers as a litigation support tool for nearly 25 years. In the late 1980s, he came across a new software product emerging from Sydney. The application – ISYS:desktop – was the first commercial desktop search application of its kind, and the full scope of its benefit to the legal community worldwide had yet to be tapped.

Now in its seventh generation of technological innovation, ISYS:desktop has become the leading enterprise desktop search application and a popular tool among attorneys and their staff. While the sophistication of the product’s technology enables a broad set of functionality, Burnside’s initial need couldn’t have been more straightforward – locate specific, relevant text among large repositories of content.

Riddle

It's early in the year folks, so let's ease into 2006 with a rather manageable riddle.

From the beginning of eternity
To the end of time and space
To the beginning of every end
And the end of every place.
What am I?

Reader Survey
What is your #1 frustration when evaluating vendor software? Click the option that best suits your stance.

Be sure to check the next issue of ISYS Update for the results of this survey.

Last issue's results:
In the last edition of ISYS Update, we put our customers on the spot and asked them what their upgrade plans were for ISYS 7.

Recognizing ISYS 7's sophistication and unparalleled value (or perhaps fearing our close associations with big guys named Jimmy No Nose and Johnny Knuckles) nearly 70 percent of respondents stated they have either already upgraded or plan to upgrade in the near term.

Approximately 30 percent said they were satisfied with their current version of ISYS. While we appreciate the strength and longevity of our technology, we'd like to issue a bit of peer pressure and encourage you once again to test drive ISYS 7.

C'mon ... everyone's doing it.

Read Intranet Journal's coverage of ISYS:web 7
As we mentioned in our previous issue, ISYS:web 7 has been released and is available for immediate evaluation and purchase.

Michael Pastore of Intranet Journal recently wrote about ISYS:web 7, covering the highlights of the product and its position in the market. Along with screen shots of the software and details on the various features offered, Pastore also reviewed how ISYS:web stacks up against solutions from competitors.

Pastore's coverage is timely, given the amount of discussion surrounding the proliferation and viability of consumer search engines in the enterprise search market. More importantly, Pastore's article illustrates just how many variables companies must consider when attempting to make sense of enterprise search and its players (which is why we've asked you in this issue's poll to weigh in on your #1 frustration when evaluating vendor software).

Over the years, ISYS has taken great pride in "telling it like it is", and we sincerely hope there's no confusion on exactly how ISYS adds value to your everyday lives in the workplace. Quite honestly, our customers are the primary drivers of our continued innovation, so we appreciate the ongoing feedback we receive.

Keep those comments coming, and in exchange we'll continue to provide a high level of support and powerful tools for improving the quality and efficiency of your work.
