The fundamental objective of enterprise search couldn’t be more straightforward -- to help people find information fast. Unfortunately, some vendors continue to speak in tongues, proffering technology that requires a Ph.D. to understand and a team of them to implement.
The good news is companies are beginning to see the light—that search isn’t a difficult or costly endeavor. In fact, keeping in mind our three keys, businesses of all sizes can finally capitalize on the promise of enterprise search.

Tech Tips: Creating Banner and Hypertext Front Pages
ISYS enables you to create a page that will load automatically when a user starts ISYS Query or when a particular index is selected. Two different types of pages can be created: the Banner Page and the Hypertext Front Page. The Banner Page is an ASCII text file that is useful for displaying a brief message or perhaps information about a particular index. The Hypertext Front Page is a valuable tool for displaying information about the index and for creating links to other documents that contain useful information.

Survey results -- your plans for search in 2005
Last month we asked you to tell us how you plan to expand your use of search in 2005. A third of respondents stated they plan to incorporate desktop search software this year, while 22 percent said they would leverage search on their public websites.
These figures compare to the 17 percent of respondents who said they would implement search on their intranet. Only a small percentage of voters (11 percent) said they plan to roll out search across the entire enterprise, suggesting the demand for tactical search deployments is greater than enterprise-wide solutions.
Thanks again for voting. Please be sure to take this quarter's poll above.

Riddle
This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it? It looks so plain you would think nothing was wrong with it! In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is unusual though. Study it, and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out! Try to do so without any coaching!
