As ISYS Search Softwares founder and managing director, Ian Davies
guides the companys overall direction and serves as its chief technology
expert. Widely regarded for his vision and dedication to developing high-value software, he has been
the lynchpin to the companys success since its inception in 1988.
Ian designed the original ISYS text retrieval system after recognizing
a market opportunity for search engine technology. In 1993, he was elected
a Computerworld Fellow in recognition of his achievements in software.
The technology, now in its seventh generation, has won numerous awards and
has been deployed by a blue chip list of clients that includes high-profile
businesses and organizations in government, legal, law enforcement, recruitment,
IT and more.
Prior to founding ISYS, Ian spent 10 years writing as a consulting technical
editor for one of Australias leading PC magazines. Additionally,
he spent four years with a prominent commercial software house in Australia
before becoming an independent consultant in IBM mainframe fourth-generation
languages.
Ian graduated from RMIT in 1981 with a degree in computer science with
distinction. He has lectured post-graduate students studying information
technology and has also consulted widely to Australian corporate and government
departments on technical issues.
